 This
module simulates a Rubber-Tire Gantry (RTG) Container Crane. The crane
simulated is capable of stacking up to 7 stacks of 20- or 40-foot containers
5 high. The specifications on this crane include variable hoist speed,
trolley speed, and hoisting capacity.
- Realistic control stand and control panels
- 3-axis hydraulic motion base that provides sensation
of movement and motion, jolts from collisions, crane depression
as a heavy load is lifted, bumps from uneven rail gaps, and the many
other jolts and vibrations of normal crane operations
- Instructor's station with display of student view
- Surround sound effects including engine/motor engaging
and disengaging, radio communications with foreman (instructor),
wind, collision, and miscellaneous environmental sounds
- Variable weather conditions including wind (variable
speed, direction, and interval), sunny conditions where sun is fixed
and shadows are cast realistically, and cloudy conditions with no
shadows for depth cueing
- Real-time photo-textured 3-dimensional graphics
- Accurate representations of crane environment from
the operator's field of vision
- Realistic crane capacities and limits
- Traveling and steering of RTG for alignment when lifting
or decking containers from and to the stacks
- Stopping and removing swing from head
- Adjusting spreader for 20 and 40 foot containers
- Loading and unloading on a pin chassis
- Loading and unloading on bombcarts
- Steering container with skew for clean landing on
bombcart
- Stacking up to five 20 and 40 foot containers with
proper alignment
