Global Maritime Distress and Safety System

Ship Analytics has released an upgraded Global Maritime Distress and Safety System software package. This new GMDSS simulation software meets the STCW and IMO standards for GMDSS training and can be purchased separately, or bundled with all of the necessary hardware.

The software runs under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT. We believe that our GMDSS software is now the most cost effective in the maritime industry. It allows simultaneous communication over all the GMDSS equipment, including all student and instructor stations. It has the look and feel of real equipment.

Ship Analytics’ GMDSS simulation systems realistically offer simultaneous multi-channel communications, signal propagation and attenuation properties. Additional functions have been added to the two DSC models, such as the ability to program messages, MMSI, telephone numbers, DSC frequencies and working frequencies.

More training flexibility has been built in, too. Now an instructor and a student station may run simultaneously on one computer. This is very useful for exercise development and for independent student operation. Students are able to practice the role of both stations and receive immediate feedback by watching messages arriving at their destination.

A GMDSS training curriculum option (with instructor and student manuals) can shorten the time to start up of training.

Features:

  • Ship-to-shore, shore-to-ship & ship-to-ship alerting
  • HF & MF radios simulate normal & DSC communications, without false alerts
  • Software model simulates signal propagation & other effects for realism
  • Simulated INMARSAT Standard B & Standard C Terminals with Enhanced Group Calling
  • Realistic deployment of EPIRBs (406Hz emergency radio beacons) and SARTs (9GHz radar transponders) for detection and homing
  • Telex and NAVTEX
  • System can link different buildings via fiber optic cable
