The purpose of the Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator and its derivatives is to provide very realistic real time simulation of the thermodynamic and fluid properties of the liquids and gases involved in closed systems.
When the initial development was commenced the liquids and gases involved concentrated on those applicable to the oil industry such as the different types of oils and gases such as Propane, Butane and the others that are typically carried in LPG Carriers. Development has now progressed to the point that the system can be used to simulate any liquid that is typically found as a cargo on commercial vessels. Consequently the list now includes:
-
Any grade of crude oil or product oil.
-
Hydrocarbon gases including Methane, Propane, Butane (n & i), Propylene etc
-
Chemical gases including Ammonia and VCM
-
Many chemical cargoes
The Model Software and Benefits sections provide a full description of how the models are created and also highlight some of the benefits that can be obtained by using this type of simulation within the oil and gas industry both ashore and afloat.
