The Large Simulator System (LSS Series) is our full mission simulator
designed for teaching marine engineers and plant operators from intermediate
to advanced level. It is specifically developed to meet (as part of
a co-ordinated course) the requirements of
- STCW Code: Section A-1/12 and Section B-1/12.
- ISM Code: Section 6 and Section 8
The LSS simulates the propulsion and auxiliary systems for slow or
medium speed main engines with electrical power generation plant.
Environmental realism is assured by using industrial standard controls
and instrumentation throughout. Each system is also shown graphically
so students can monitor and control values of temperature, pressure,
flow etc. Typically LSS includes the following systems:
- Main Propulsion
- Fuel (Heavy and Diesel), Bunkers, Transfer, Separation and Supply
- Cooling - SW, LTCW and HTCW
- Fresh Water Generation
- Sewerage System
- Lubrication Oil (Separation Supply and Storage)
- Compressed Air
- Exhaust Gas Boiler
- Steam Plant
- Fire, General Service and Bilge
- Electrical Power Plant with Diesel, Shaft and Turbo Alternators
available
- Full Synchronizing and Load-sharing in Man/Auto modes
- Comprehensive logs for analysis and assessment
- Refrigeration
- Inert Gas
- Interface to other simulators
Here are some of the more advanced subjects that may be studied:
- PID Controller Tuning
- Fuel Efficiency Studies
- Emergency Procedures
- Demonstrating the possible catastrophic effects of maloperation,
ignorance or negligence
- Fault diagnosis and recovery
- Ship management, teamwork, training
- Assessment of students and engineers
