Available in either LSS (full mission) or LSS-G (PC-based) formats, our Steam Propulsion Trainer was developed in conjunction with the California Maritime Academy, Vallejo U.S.A. It simulates an entire Steam Plant including the following systems:
Electrical Power Plant comprising 1
Diesel Alternator, 2 Turbo Alternators, I Emergency Alternator, Synchronizing
Section Earth Leakage, Circuit Breakers with overload trip protection.
Alternator Auxiliary systems - Cooling, Lubrication, Fuel and Air,
Alternator Controls include: Manual and Auto Start and Synchronization,
Governor Speed Control with adjustable droop, Manual or Automatic
Voltage Control. Real Time color graphic display of kW, kVAr, I,V,PF
including vector diagram format.
Boilers - Two D-Type boilers
with separate controls generate Superheated and De-superheated steam
using an attemperator.
Cooling System - comprising Sea
Water Cooling using a Scoop or main Circulation.
Fuel System - Heavy and Diesel
Oil Bunker and Service Systems, Full Burner management Module with
integral Alarms, purge sequence and trips. Steam Heating of Heavy
Oil including re-circulation Lubrication System - The main
lubrication system comprises a gravity fed storage tank, hydraulic
throttle pump, HP, LP and Shaft bearing lubrication. Compressed Air System -
Generated by separate control and service air compressors, the air
system includes 20psi lines for steam regulators and 70psi for boiler
controls.
PID Control Systems comprise
cascaded Plant Master, Master, Fuel, Air, fuel-Air Ratio with Hi-Lo
selection. All controllers can be individually programmed for Set
Point, Proportional Band, Integral and Derivative Time and can be
set for manual or automatic operation. Other PID controllers include
Drum Water Level, Feed Pump Differential Pressure and Superheated
Steam Temperature.
Main Turbines - include 2-stage
HP and 2-stage LP plus an astern turbine. Each has independent Lubrication
and Gland Steam. A dynamic Mollier diagram and Entropy / Enthalpy
Diagrams are available for advanced teaching.
Condensate System - Main Condenser
(Vacuum assisted with air-ejectors), Condensate (with 2 pumps), Atmospheric
Drain Tank, De-aerator (DFT) and DFT Dump System.
Feed Water System - includes
two steam-driven Feed Pumps and one electric feed pump. HP and IP
bled steam and 875 to 150 psi regulator.
Other Systems - Bilge, Fire,
Fresh Water Generator, Vibration and Salinity Monitoring, Alarm System,
Telegraph and Throttle, Turbine speed reductions and trips
Instructor Facilities - The instructor
may change critical values such as Ambient & Sea Temperatures,
Fuel Quality and Fuel Analysis, Cargo Pump Loading. Alternator Droop
etc.
Faults - Over 400 faults available to the instructor
The full mission system comprises:
- Main Engine Control Desk
- Main Electrical Switchboard
- Emergency Switchboard
- Generator Local Control Panel
- Instructor Desk
- Student PCs for Control and Monitoring
