Enhances the Instructor's
ability to produce quality exercises.
The
Instructor Control Station (ICS) is used to prepare, start, control,
monitor, and review simulator exercises. The design uses an interactive,
graphic user interface and Windows technology for easy operation.
The Instructor Control Station allows
the operator to:
- Select, initialize, control, and terminate the operation
of a single or multiple bridge simulation
- Monitor ownship maneuvers & behaviors
- Implement failures to create emergency situations
- Maneuver traffic ships, tugs, ownship
- Change environmental conditions
- Prepare or modify exercises
- Develop experimental conditions for research applications
- Display and examine geographic and historical data
from the simulated exercise, during the exercise, or debriefing
- Examine alternative maneuvers
- Run an exercise debriefing session
 The
user-friendly ICS operation involves a combination of keyboard, point-and-click,
and pull-down menus. Access to geographic plots, data tables, and
graphs is simple.
Video monitors, phones, and intercoms
help the instructor monitor, guide and interact with exercises.
When the customer has selected the Closed
Circuit TV (CCTV) option, the Instructor can view and listen to the
bridge team in the wheel house, radar cubicle, or other simulator
spaces.
