Chemical Tanker

Cargo System

The vessel is equipped with 34 main cargo tanks comprising of 14 suitable for IMO 2 cargoes and 20 centre tanks for 1 or 2.

Each tank is equipped with one hydraulic centrifugal pump which is connected to independent main and stripping pipelines each with separate manifolds. Independent tank pressure relief valves are provided along with pipeline connections to two vapor manifolds from each tank.

Level indications together with high level and overfill alarms are provided on each cargo tank using a 'radar' type of monitoring system. Readings for tank content temperatures at three levels and tank pressure are also provided.

The cargo manifold arrangement allows for each tank manifold to be connected to another tank, to the overside discharge or to a separate additional manifold for the discharge of Propylene Oxide.

The model allows any grade of cargo (based on the current IBC code) to be placed into any of the tanks. Prior to run time, the instructor can define a list of up to 34 selected cargoes to be used during a particular exercise. The model will handle the effects of both the mixing of different grades together with the introduction of water into the system.
