Inert Gas System

The model incorporates a fully detailed inert gas plant comprising a generator, blowers, regulating controls, oxygen monitoring and sub systems for the provision of cooling and sealing arrangements. All required alarms and interlocks are incorporated. The instructor also has the ability to be able to adjust and malfunction the oxygen content of the delivered inert gas. The plant is also equipped with fresh air inlet allowing it to be used for gas freeing purposes.

The IG plant is connected to distribution systems for both the wing and centre cargo tanks. Appropriate valves are fitted on each tank for IG supply and pressure/vacuum relief together with purge pipes allowing either gas venting from a tank from top or bottom for dilution / displacement methods of gas atmosphere replacement. Whether dilution or displacement method occurs is dependent upon the pipeline setup together with the density and speed of inlet of both the gas within the tank and that entering the space.

The main pipelines are also equipped with pressure/ vacuum relief valves and water filled breakers.
