Product Information

Modular - Expandable - Upgradeable - Flexible
Designed to Grow With Your Needs

All Simulation Technology Solutions simulators are modular and can be upgraded to a more sophisticated system to keep up with your training requirements.  Our simulation systems are among the most sophisticated offered commercially and are based on patent-pending and highly advanced human-factors-based technology.  The immersive simulation experience includes visual, motion, vibration, sound, full standard instrumentation and actual vehicle cabs. Training scenarios are fully programmable and include weather conditions, 3D road surface and payload and traffic features.

Our product line includes the following systems:

Product Discriminators

Mark II Rear-view mirror

Sensory Environment
Simulation Technology Solution's visual system is state of the art. Customers can customize databases to include features and landmarks from their areas.  Simulation Technology Solution's models include roads with crowns, curbs, gutters, soft edges and variations in surface texture and contents. The Century Series of simulators include a comfortable eye accommodation distance of six and one-half feet. All STS simulators provide natural road feel through the steering process and sensory feedback from the chassis and seat vibration. STS provides accurate vehicle dynamics models, which interact on a three-dimensional road surface. This interaction produces a realistic tire/road response behavior that gives trainees the look and feel of driving on a real road.

PatrolSim™ III

Cab
STS Driver Development simulators incorporate actual vehicle cabs, dashboards, instruments and cockpit layout as provided by the manufacturer. The resultant cab acoustics, ergonomics and environmental properties are similar to the real vehicle. STS's technology offers realistic tactile and acoustic vibrations, including stereo sound by using variable audio synthesis (VAS) directional sound technology.

Mark II™

Motion Base
Two, four and six degree of freedom (DOF) motion bases are offered. Each motion base is optimized to provide the maximum realism in road feel (high frequency) and vehicle feedback (low frequency) response. Motion bases are tuned to the needs of a driving environment with accurate phase, direction, timing and scaled magnitude.

Mark II™ Opcon

Operator Console
The operator console incorporates an easy-to-use, icon-based menu allowing a point-and-click selection of scenario options. The training options include real-time interaction with moving vehicles, adjustable eye-point views and the ability to monitor driver conditions. Data is collected for off-line driver performance reviews and report generation.

Vehicle Dynamics

High Fidelity Tire Force Models
Detailed tire state and behavior models contribute to an accurate simulation performance. The empirical parameters calculated include: Z-axis response; X-axis friction; slip force; tire angle; speed and rolling radius; Y-axis slip angle, camber angle and lateral force relaxation; tire envelope (behavior when hitting an object); and steering force movement. STS Driver Developments unique tire-force models can replicate any tire on the market. Various car and truck configurations can be modeled. Tire models incorporate a normal contact patch (not a single point) sampled at 1,000 Hz.

Manual Transmission

Transmission
STS places great emphasis on accurately simulating different transmission characteristics. Two state-of-the-art transmission configurations are offered, including automatic and manual. Each transmission realistically responds both in feel and sound to the driver's input. Suspensions, fifth wheel trailer connections for trucks, brake types, ABS, engines and transmissions can also be selected to reflect actual customer vehicles.
